Approaching from the North on the N3
If you are driving south from Johannesburg/Estcourt (we are on the main R103 road, about 3km further on from Balgowan) you should take the Nottingham Road off ramp
after the main Mooi River Toll Plaza. Then turn right, back over the highway, and follow for about 8km towards Nottingham Road.
The first junction you will come to is a form of T junction/right turn but you just stick to the main road, staying left towards Balgowan, which is a further 10km on.
Keep going (ever onward) on this main road past Balgowan station and you will see the sign for Gowan Valley about 3km further on, on your left.
There is a farm track for about 500m, which will bring you straight to the main house.
Approaching from the South on the N3
If you are coming north from Durban/Pietermaritzburg on the N3 (we are on the Main R103, about 3km before Balgowan, coming from Howick) then take the Howick/Tweedie off ramp (after the Howick/Midmar off ramp) and turn left at the top.
After about 1,3km there is a T junction, where you then turn right onto the R103, towards Lions River, Balgowan, and Nottingham Rd.
If you follow this road for about 16,5km you will see a sign for Gowan Valley on your right (not far on from the sign for Swissland Cheese).
There is a farm track for about 500m, which will bring you straight to the main house.
